How do I update the BIOS and the firmware for my S5000 system?

There are two ways of doing this.

1. Go to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/server, locate the product you are using and download latest Production System Update package.

This package contains the following firmware: BIOS, BMC & FRUSDR

These instructions describe a complete system software update including BMC , FRUSDR , and BIOS. Follow the instructions exactly as written. A complete and successful update will take approximately 20 minutes.

Copy all system update files to a bootable USB Disk-on-key device
Verify processor(s) and memory DIMMs are installed in the system
Plug in AC power cord
Wait until Status LED stops blinking red/green (~30 seconds)
Insert bootable USB Disk-on-Key into USB Port (Front or Rear)
Power on system using "Power" button on Control Panel

Note: Please read the release note for information on how to run the update package.

2. Go to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/server, locate the product you are using and download the latest One Flash Update Package for the Intel® Deployment Assistant

This update should only be used when running the Intel® Deployment Assistant CD.

The package contains: BIOS, BMC & FRUSDR
