VMware vSphere* 5 is now available as an accessory to Intel® Server Boards and Intel® Server Systems. Your Intel® Authorized Distributor can provide VMware vSphere as an add-on to eligible Intel® Server Product purchases.
VMware vSphere 5 delivers a powerful virtualization infrastructure that transforms datacenters into dramatically simplified environments to enable the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services.
Most Intel® Server Products are certified to run with VMware vSphere* and are listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List.
VMware vSphere* Essentials Editions* combine the high availability, performance and reliability of VMware enterprise class solutions with pricing and packaging ideal for smaller IT environments. Each edition will support up to three physical hosts (maximum of two processors per host) and includes the management console, VMware vCenter* Server for Essentials*.
- VMware vSphere Essentials* provides an all-in-one solution for small offices to consolidate and manage many application workloads while reducing hardware and operating costs with a low up-front investment.
- VMware vSphere Essentials Plus* adds features such as vSphere vMotion*, vSphere HA* and vSphere Data Recovery* to VMware vSphere Essentials* to enable always-on IT for the small environment.
For midsize and larger businesses, there are three editions targeted for various deployment scenarios. Each edition is licensed based on the number of processors on the physical server hosts that you want to virtualize, and scales easily by adding more licenses to your environment.
- VMware vSphere Standard provides an entry solution for basic consolidation of applications to slash hardware costs while accelerating application deployment.
- VMware vSphere Enterprise provides key features for minimizing downtime, protecting data, and automating resource management.
- VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus includes the full range of VMware vSphere* features for transforming datacenters into dramatically simplified cloud computing environments that can provide the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services to their businesses.
VMware vCenter Server* is a required component of a complete VMware vSphere deployment and provides centralized management, provisioning, updating, and orchestration of VMware vSphere hosts. One instance is required to centrally manage virtual machines and their hosts and enable all features of VMware vSphere. VMware vCenter Server is purchased separately.
- VMware vCenter Server Standard enables highly scalable management with rapid provisioning, monitoring, orchestration and control of all virtual machines in a VMware vSphere environment.
