The Higher Education team of Intel® India participated in PRAGYAN 09, held at NIT Trichy on the occasion of being a sponsor for the event (Circuitrix- electrical sciences event). PRAGYAN was an International Techno – Managerial Festival conducted from 12th to 15th Feb 09 at NIT Trichy. The Fest primarily focused on imbibing a scientific temper with the spirit of innovation among the youth. Since the past four years, PRAGYAN has been a huge success in bringing the brightest minds from across the country and abroad together, providing them with a platform to exhibit their talents and showcasing events covering various engineering disciplines. This event also put to test the creativity and innovation of the best minds of the country. During this event, the Higher Education team of Intel was involved in a series of activities held on the 12th and 13th of Feb 09.

On 12th of Feb 09 , Dr. Praveen Vishakantaiah, President, Intel India addressed the Computer Science and Electronics students of NIT Trichy and delivered a talk on ‘Encouraging Higher Education and Research’ among students, motivating them to follow their passion. Followed by that Dr. Vishakantaiah, inaugurated the Multicore Lab and the Computer Science Department and also met the faculties.

Later in the evening, Dr. Praveen Vishakantaiah inaugurated the Pragyan event as the Chief Guest and delivered his inaugural address to the students. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized on development of soft skills to articulate ideas effectively, and said that passion to perform, perseverance and a proactive approach to lead from the front were necessary. The inaugural ceremony of Pragyan was also attended by other eminent dignitaries like Prof. M. Chidambaram, Director, NIT Trichy, and Dr. Loren Acton, Astronaut, American physicist, Research Professor at the Montana State University.

On 13th Feb 09 , the Intel Higher Education team put up a stall showcasing various programs and giving a brief overview about the same. The Higher Education team also showcased the multicore technology at the booth in order to create more awareness and visibility on multicore among the students.

A tech talk on ‘Introduction to Multicore’ was also delivered by Mr. Baskaran Ganesan, Senior Design Engineer Intel India, to Computer Science students for motivating them to learn more about multicore and creating visibility about the same. The tech talk was highly interactive and participative with students showing immense interest in the multicore technology.  

Mr. Satish Narule , Higher Education Manager, Intel India interacted with the Prof N. Ramasubramanian, HOD, Computer Science Dept and spoke towards exploring better research opportunities with NIT Trichy and also expanding the scope of Multicore.
