23rd May 2009, campus interviews were conducted at IASE, Andhra University to provide campus placement for the graduating students of D. Ed., B. Ed., B. Ed. (Spl.), M.A. (Edn.) all students of various colleges of education affiliated to Andhra University.

The event was facilitated by Intel® Teach Program National Educators Network, Visakhapatnam and member schools that use innovative teaching methods to enhance the teaching-learning process. These schools were keen to recruit new teacher trainees who were trained in the integration of technology in education during teacher training.

The Campus interviews were a great opportunity for National Educators Network member schools to recruit teachers who were equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to integrate technology in education. More than 30 schools participated while 1000 strong students registered for the program. By providing quality employment opportunities to the student teachers of Andhra University it strengthened the campus placement cell of the University, in making campus placement a regular feature of the University academic calendar while being an excellent way of promoting convergence of in-service and pre-service segments.

Prof. Beela Satyanarayana, Vice Chancellor, Andhra University in his inaugural speech stressed that technology was the need of the hour and that schools should focus on 21st century skills like problem solving, communication skills, team work etc. He highlighted the campus interviews as being a great opportunity for the graduating teachers and schools, as both were the beneficiaries of this event.

Prof. Prasad Reddy, Registrar, Andhra University, who was oneof the distinguished speakers on the occasion, said that social development could happen only at the school level and that Intel’s CSR activity was doing justice to the community.

The Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. K P Subba Rao, in his talk explained the importance and objectives of the campus interviews. He highlighted that this is the second consecutive year the Intel Teach, National Educators Network and Dept. of Education- Andhra University were conducting the campus interviews for school teachers in private schools. Mr. Prasanta Kumar Panda, Secretary of the National Educators Network,, Visakhapatnam gave an update of the activities of the network where more than 2000 teachers have been trained by NEN Visagunder Intel® Teach program, providing free training to teachers on the Intel Teach curriculum.

The Pre-Service Program Mentor of the Intel Teach Program, Mrs. K. Radha Chary in conclusion gave an update on the Intel Teach Pre-Service Program activities in Andhra Pradesh where she highlighted the MOU between Intel and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) which focuses on integrating Intel Teach curriculum as a textbook in B. Ed. in all Universities across the state. She proposed a special thanks to the VC, Registrar, Dean Faculty of Education and Faculty of IASE for their support.

The response for the campus interviews was overwhelming. The University authorities, the student teachers, the school principals and representatives were very appreciative of this new initiative. There was also a wide and appreciative coverage by the media for the event.
