Inspiring Young Innovators (IYI) School Program: Program Launch
The "Inspiring Young Innovators" school program has been piloted by a few selected schools in Bangalore, in the academic year 2009-2010 with support and guidance from the Intel® Teach Program. The key objective of this initiative is to kindle the scientific and technological spirit which will inspire and empower the students and the school system to move towards greater innovation and creativity.

The program offers initiatives for the entire school fraternity including students, teachers, parents and even the school management and invites collaboration from all. The plan includes science workshops and competitions for all students, mentoring by Intel technologists, exposure visits for students and teachers to the Intel campus, interactive sessions with Intel technologists, trainings and workshops for teachers, leadership forum and a technology newsletter.

Mallya Aditi International School Inspiring Young Innovators School Program Launch

The program was first launched by Mallya Aditi International School on the 23rd of June ’09, by Sathish Jayarajan, Principal of Mallya Aditi International School and Mr. Rahul Bedi, Director, Corporate Affairs, South Asia, Intel. Mr.Bedi thanked the school and the students for launching the Inspiring Young Innovators School Program and encouraged their commitment towards enhancing the spirit of innovation.

The Principal, Sathish Jayarajan was very appreciative of Intel for supporting the launch of the Inspiring Young Innovators initiative and recalled their association with Intel in the past which had motivated them towards winning the "Best Integration of Technology in Education" award from Intel. He urged the students and teachers present to grab the opportunity and participate actively in at least one event or activity through the year to make the most of the opportunity offered to them.

A detailed presentation on the IYI program was made by Ms. Ritu Singh, Program Manager, National Educators Network (Intel Teach Program) while Mr. Manav Subodh, Head, South & West India, Corporate Affairs, Intel, handed over the mementoes to the Principal and program coordinators. To seal the collaboration a 'Letter of Agreement' was also signed by Principal Sathish Jayarajan and Manav Subodh on behalf of the school and Intel.

A workshop on the Science Fair – IRIS, was also conducted by Mr. Narayan Iyer, Co-chairperson IRIS, to introduce students to possible venues for encouraging scientific temperament and innovation.

Inventure Academy and Greenwood High Inspiring Young Innovators School Program Launch

A similar launch of the event was also hosted by Inventure Academy & Greenwood High which held a combined launch on the 7th of July ’09, at Inventure Academy.

The event began by a short cultural program put up by the students and was followed by an introductory address by Ms. Nooraine Fazal, CEO and co-founder, Inventure Academy who discussed the education scenario in India along with the opportunity offered to emerge as the new centre for knowledge and innovation.

Mr. Rahul Bedi spoke to audience of parents, teachers and students about the program and the activities which would nurture innovation and creativity and broaden the horizons of the students to give them the opportunity to look at research and science in a more comprehensive manner. He looked forward to enhancing the spirit of innovation with the 'Inspiring Young Innovators School Program'.

Mr. J. Muralidhar, Executive Director, Greenwood High expressed his gratitude to Intel for launching this initiative and to Inventure Academy for hosting the launch event. He assured Intel that his school would give all possible support to help implement the program in Greenwood High and work towards making the program a great success.

Following the address by Ms. Ritu Singh who gave an update on the Inspiring Young Innovators Program, Mr. Anshul Sonak, South Asia Education Manager, Intel, handed out mementoes to the heads of the two institutions and the Program Coordinators from the two schools. In conclusion to a thought provoking evening, Ms. Joyeeta Das, Product Manager, Education, Intel, addressed the audience on "Nurturing Innovation through IRIS". An IRIS workshop was also conducted to motivate the middle and senior school students from both schools.
