The Intel® Education Initiative is philanthropic commitment which delivers programs that improve teaching and learning through the effective use of technology. The goal of the Programs under the Intel Education Initiative is to help teachers learn how best to use technology, to enhance student learning. For teachers to effectively use technology in their teaching learning practices, they need to be skilled & comfortable using technology tools.

Understanding this need, the Intel® Education Help Guide was developed, which is a most innovative and unique way of making the teachers & students independent and confident technology users and also keeping abreast with the latest technology tools and resources.

We are still in a stage wherein there is a tendency to rely on the ICT Teacher for helping us with the technology skills. Help Guide will make us more independent. – Rajni Sharma, KV, Pitampura.

The Intel® Education Help Guide provides step-by-step instructions for hundreds of these commonly used technology tasks in a user-friendly language. The instructions are also represented with images for the ease of use.

The Education Help Guide does not confine the user to any platform, version or language. It is available in multiple versions and languages. Users can select a version or platform as per their need.

The Intel® Education Help Guide is a flexible resource not only for teachers but students as well. Instructions are written in student-friendly language, helping students learn the language of technology while they practice the skills.

I take primary classes and giving projects to the students using technology is a challenge. Students often lose focus of the subject content while struggling to identify & use appropriate technical skills. Now with the introduction of Help Guide my students have a ready reference for the technical skills while working the projects. – Preeti

A workshop was organized at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Sec 2, R K Puram, New Delhi on January 21, 2010. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the Intel® Education Help Guide as a resource to the Subject Teachers across five Kendriya Vidyalayas and to get their feedback about the efficacy and ease of use of Help Guide. They were given an opportunity for hands-on activities and created various technology products using the Help Guide CD.

The teachers were not very adept users of technology. But they were able to complete the activities assigned to them using various features/steps detailed in the Help Guide. They explored the Help Guide and were able to find solutions to their technology problems without any external help. The participants were appreciative of the demonstration and agreed that it had given them the confidence to use technology independently, and helped them gain more technical knowledge.

The Principal, of KV, RK Puram shared that the students using the Help Guide could see specific skills modeled and investigate other skills according to their needs and interests. Students who lack basic skills could also practice these skills on their own without teacher instructions. He also expressed his appreciation about the ‘Help Guide being a different and innovative idea which would give teaching faculties full opportunity for making the curriculum content more enriched and meaningful’.
