Intel® Teach Program in Madhya Pradesh

As a global technology leader, Intel is committed to enhancing lives by accelerating access to uncompromised technology for everyone, anywhere in the world. Intel is actively involved in education programs, advocacy and technology access to enable tomorrow’s innovators. Intel has invested over US$1billion towards improving education in 50 countries. More than 6 million teachers have been trained worldwide. In India, Intel has empowered over 1.3 million teachers in the past ten years.

The Intel® Teach Program aims to help classroom teachers learn how best to use technology to improve teaching and learning for students. The goal is to develop 21st century teaching and learning skills and approaches, such as student-centered instruction, critical thinking, and collaboration. The program also involves the development of individual action plans detailing how teachers will apply their new skills and approaches to improve their productivity and enhance their professional growth.

Summary of Intel ®Teach Program in Shivpuri district: In partnership with the District Administration and Education Department of Shivpuri District, the Intel World Ahead program and Intel® Teach Program were launched on Sept 17, 2008 with Shri. Jyotiraditya Scindia. The collaboration focused on Professional Development of teachers, on using IT as a tool to develop teachers’ techno-pedagogical knowledge and help them integrate the same in the teaching-learning process.

Intel® Teach Program in Madhya Pradesh   Key Objectives of the partnership were:
  • To impart sustained professional development to a mutually agreed number of school teachers across the district
  • To support successful integration of technology in education in computerised government and private schools across the district
  • To enhance quality and efficiency of the teaching-learning process by using technology, with the ultimate goal of achieving better and incremental student performance

Key Highlights of the Intervention are:
  • Principals of 100 government and private schools undertook intensive Technology Leadership workshops. ~113 subject teachers from these schools were trained as Master Trainers. They shared the acquired knowledge and skills with their colleague teachers. Till date, the Program has empowered over 1,000 teachers from these 100 schools.
  • A Core Committee formed by the Education Department studied the impact of the Program and revealed that 91% of the trained teachers are confident of using computers to enhance the teaching-learning process.
  • Through the donation of 45 computers and WiMax Connectivity at 4 Centres of Learning, Intel initiated the “Meri Manzil Mera Pehla Kadam” initiative in the district, which enabled technology access for teachers and students.
  • Certificates were awarded to teachers trained under the Intel ®Teach Program in April, 2010. As the Chief Guest, Shri. Jyotiraditya Scindia encouraged teachers to use technology in the classrooms and launched Intel® Digital Help Guide (step-by-step instructions for hundreds of technical skills for commonly used software applications), in Hindi.
