Intel Science Fairs
For the past seven years, Intel® Education in Pakistan has been holding district, provincial and a national science Fair. Intel Science Fairs are science competitions which are held for students of grades 9 to 12. The competition is aimed at promoting research based learning in Sciences and Mathematics.
About the program

Government support
The Science Fairs in Pakistan are held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. At the provincial levels, the Science Education Project worked closely with Intel to arrange district and provincial fairs. At the national level, the Federal Ministry of Education, Training Wing has taken ownership for the science fair program. The Ministry of Science & Technology also supports the Science Fairs in Pakistan.

Workshops
Student mentor workshops are held across the country, to give students and teachers an opportunity to interact with mentors, who will help students finalize their research ideas, research plans and provide students with an opportunity to work closely with leading scientists and researchers of the country. Students not only learn from mentors during the workshops, but they also contact them during the next few months for guidance and tips. During the workshops, students learn what research is, and what the Intel ISEF is all about. They are given guidelines and rules that they need to follow for their projects to qualify for the competition.

Science fairs
District fairs are held in some provinces, from which projects are short-listed for the provincial fairs. Across the country, provincial fairs are held and the short-listed projects compete at the National Science Fair, which is held annually in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. The National Science Fair is the only science competition in Pakistan that is affiliated to the Intel® International Science and Engineering Fair that is held every year in the US. Winners of the National Science Fair secure a slot in the Intel® ISEF, which gives them a chance to win grants and scholarships at the international competition.
