Since 2004, teachers trained under the Intel® Teach Program are provided additional support to enhance implementation. The support comes in the form of forums for Master Trainers and Participant Teachers, Enhancement Trainings and Refresher Trainings. To date, close to 16,000 teachers have been reached across the country through these forums and enhancement activities.
A series of forums are held with teachers, which provides them with an
opportunity to share ideas to enhance implementation, discuss common issues that
they face and what the possible solutions can be, and showcase their portfolios
and lesson plans so that others can learn. Concepts learnt during the Intel®
Teach trainings are reinforced, and the forums serve as a platform to introduce
new concepts to promote inquiry-based learning in the classroom.
Enhancement and refresher trainings are held with Master Trainers, especially those participants who have been with the program for more than 2 years. Refreshers are also held for Intel’s District Trainers who are responsible for holding batches in the most remote districts throughout the year. The main objective of these trainings is to keep participants up to date about changes and improvements in curriculum, new concepts and new focus areas. Reinforcement of trainings and concepts is also stressed upon, while follow-up support is provided by Intel® to facilitate classroom implementation of trainings.
The Intel® Teach Program focuses on effective integration of technology, particularly ICT, in teaching. It is essential that Principals understand the need and effectiveness of technology in Education as a means of sustainable changes pertaining to technology integration in their institutions.
A Principal is the key person in any education institution and it is imperative that he or she helps teachers to implement technology aided learning. To ensure its effective and judicious use, principals need to develop strategies to encourage and motivate teachers to integrate technology, enhance student learning and ensure the optimum use of available resources.
A number of workshops and seminars are offered by Intel® Education in this regard.
A - Principals Awareness Seminar
Principal Awareness workshops are held to inform principals about the Intel® Teach Program. The main aim is to discuss latest developments towards the integration of technology into the curriculum. Principals are also convinced to have a long term partnership with Intel® Education in order to enhance teaching and learning approaches and provide progress in these areas according to the international standards.
B - Principals Hands On Workshop
Principals Hands-On workshops have been designed to impart a basic working knowledge of the Intel® Teach Portfolios. Principals also learn the basics of MS Office, the effective uses of the internet in the process.
Activities from the Intel® Teach Getting Started Curriculum, which was introduced in Pakistan in 2007, have also been integrated in these workshops. Participants go through the process of planning, doing reviewing and sharing.
C - Technology Orientation Workshop
After the successful completion of MT/ PT trainings in an institution, it is expected that trained teachers now implement what they have learnt with students in the classroom. During the course of implementation, teachers require a great deal of support from their Principals / Administrators. The Technology Orientation Workshop is aimed at educating Principals about how they can facilitate ICT integration in their institution and support teachers with its implementation.
D - Principals Workshop on Technology and 21st Century Skills
This forum helps principals to support and promote technology integration for the effectively for the future success of their students. Principals analyze 21st century skills and the impact of technology on essential skills development and understand the importance of their role in the integration process. They also learn successful strategies for implementing and improving technology integration initiatives used by other local Pre-service institutions. This workshop prepares the principals with 21st century skills, and a guide towards making effective plans.
E- Technology Planning Workshop
This workshop is designed to support Principals to create a vision and mission statement with respect to Technology Implementation plans in their institutions. Educational goals are defined and the plan must specify the role of technology in the accomplishment of these goals.
