Currency
New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) with five denominations in paper money and five in coins.
Paper money comes in NT$2000, NT$1000, NT$500, NT$200, and NT$100 denominations.

VISA
  • Foreign nationals may obtain tourist visas if they hold foreign passports or travel documents valid for more than six months in the ROC for purposes of sightseeing, business, family visits, study or training, medical treatment, or other legitimate activities.
  • 30-day visa-exempt entry privileges are afforded to citizens of 31 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and the U.S.A.
  • 30-day landing visas are afforded to citizens of 3 countries: Hungary, Poland and Slovak.

Transportation & Fare
Taiwan has complete fundamental constructions and a convenient traffic network weaved by flights, trains and highways. It takes only a few hours to travel between scenic spots, and most of the scenic spots can be reached by public transportation vehicles.

Taxi Fare Rate
Flagfall is NT$70 and is good for the first 1.25km after which the charge is NT$5 for each additional 250m. For waiting time, it will charge NT$5 for per 1 minute and 40 seconds. At night, there is an additional NT$20 charge. Women passengers are advised to call a taxi company for a pick-up at night. Most taxi drivers cannot speak or read English, so providing the destination in Chinese characters or a map is helpful.

Bus Fare Rate
The fare for traveling within one section is NT$15 per section. Buses do not provide change. Most bus services run until 23:00.

Tipping & Tax
Tipping is customary charge 10% in hotel or restaurant.
