Principal Leadership Workshop in Gulbarga

A one-day Principal Leadership Workshop was organized for 24 Principals from ICT Phase-II Govt. High Schools of Aland Taluk, Gulbarga on 16th July 2011 at Government P U College, Aland, Gulbarga. The objective of the workshop was to enhance the Principals’ comprehension of the significance of ICT in Education and consequently support their faculty members with strategies to effectively integrate technology supported Project Based Learning in the classroom.. The Workshop, with its emphasis on the use of PBL for improving classroom experiences, intended to motivate the principals to depute teachers for attending the six days Intel Teach Essentials Course. Mr. Basavaraj Shetti, Education Technology Head, DIET Kamalapur, Gulbarga organized the logistics and Mr. Jyotiram Saware from Intel® Teach Program conducted the workshop.

The workshop started with the welcome address by Mr. Basavaraj Shetti. Mr. Jyotiram Saware gave an update on the Intel® Teach Program and shared the objectives and expectations of the workshop. This was followed by hands on activities. The entire session was very interactive as all the participants were actively involved in hands-on activities and discussions. The grouping and shuffling of the participants for various technology-oriented activities gave them an opportunity for interaction and was much appreciated. After understanding the pedagogical importance of the training, operational issues such as technology plan, infrastructure requirement and maintenance, time-table changes, etc were discussed at length. The participants realized the importance of involvement and collaboration in the teaching and learning process, as principals and teachers face the challenge of preparing their students for 21st century world.

It was obvious from the feedback session that the principals were greatly inspired by the workshop and desirous of sending their teachers to the Intel® Teach Essentials Course training to gain the maximum benefit for their schools. The Principals requested for more such workshops in the future to keep them aware and up to date on technological innovations in the field of education. While proposing the vote of thanks, Mrs. Gousia Begum, Principal, DIET Kamalapur, Gulbarga asked the principals to extend their full support and best utilize the opportunity given by Intel.
