Release Event of Intel® Teach Elements – Project Based Approaches Course

Intel® Teach Elements is a series of compelling professional development courses that provide deeper exploration of 21st century learning concepts. These free, online or CD Based, courses provide high-quality professional development with e-learning content, including animated e-learning tutorials, interactive learning exercises, and offline activities to make learning convenient for busy teachers.

Project-Based Approaches helps teachers improve their understanding and application of project-based learning in their classrooms. It provides an exploration of the characteristics and benefits of Project- Based Learning and prepares teachers to organize the curriculum, the classroom, and students for successful 21st century projects, to understand strategies for assessing students’ 21st century skills throughout an open-ended project and to apply PBL concepts with action planning exercises.

In this academic year, the course has been incorporated in the curriculum of 10 DIETs under their In-Service Teachers Training Program. 5 DIETs and 2 CTEs have included the course in their Pre-Service Curriculum to train the student teachers. Therefore, a formal course curriculum release event was organized to facilitate the training programs. Since Uttara Kannada (UK) DIET was the first of the DIETs to have opted for the course training, it was decided to have the release event at GHPS Targod school in Uttar Kannada. The event was inaugurated/attended/presided over by Sri. Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Hon’ble Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Government of Karnataka in the presence of the UK DIET Principal and Educational Technology Head on 10th September 2011.

The School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) President, Sri. Subraya Hegde, welcomed the dignitaries and the audience. The official release of Intel Teach Elements – Project Based Approaches Course Curriculum was declared by Hon’ble Education Minister who released the CD containing the course curriculum. Sri. Sunil Pathak from Intel, the Sirsi Taluk Panchayat President, the Sirsi DYSP, the DIET Principal, the ET Head, the BEO and other dignitaries joined the curriculum release program. Later during his speech ,Sri. Sunil Pathak, briefed the audience on the Intel Education interventions.

After releasing the course curriculum, the minister said, “I am closely watching Intel’s educational interventions in the state and am really happy with the way Intel is responding to the needs of the state. Unlike other companies, Intel does not have any hidden agenda while introducing the new projects. It provides the complete solution from infrastructure support to teachers’ professional development, content support, implementation and evaluation thus ensuring the proper implementation. I am happy to work with companies like Intel to have a strong ICT enabled education system in the state.”

The Sirsi Taluk Panchayat President gave her presidential address and Smt. Sudha Priyadarshan from Intel® Teach Program proposed the vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Sri. Vikram Kuntar from the Intel® Teach Program. The event was closed with recitation of National Anthem.
