Teachers’ Award at Guwahati for Effective ICT Integration

A Teachers’ award ceremony was organized on 19th September, 2011 at Education Ministers Conference Hall, Assam Secretariat. The awards were given to the teachers who effectively use ICT in the day to day teaching and learning process.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Minister Education, Assam gave away the Awards. Mr. A.B Md. Eunus, IAS Commissioner and Secretary, Education (Elementary and Secondary) and Mr. Babu Lal Sarma, Director Secondary Education, were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Minister, Education, Assam, A. B. Md. Eunus, IAS Commissioner and Secretary, Education (Elementary and Secondary), Mr. Babu Lal Sharma, Director Secondary Education and Shri. Satyan Talukdar, Deputy Secretary, Education, among others.

Ms. Valsa Williams, Head, North & East, Corporate Affairs Group gave a presentation on “Transforming Education with the help of Technology”. An update on Assam on various Intel® Education Initiatives was also shared with the Minister and other officials present. A video-based case study on the preservation of Shivsagar Lake was developed and shared by Intel®.

The Minister was delighted to see teachers and students collaborating on the teaching and learning platforms and working together. He took great interest in the presentation and appreciated the efforts made by Intel to promote ICT usage in classroom teaching and equipping students and teachers with 21st century skills .The Minister also stressed on having workshops and providing intensive training to Principals. He said he believed that Principals, as leaders of the schools, should also be motivated and understand the benefits of technology. Only then would real education transformation be possible in schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. A.B Md. Eunus, IAS Commissioner and Secretary, Education (Elementary and Secondary) appreciated Intel’s education activities. He asserted that there has been various dimensions to strengthen the scope and impact of the Intel programs in the state of Assam.

The teachers who were felicitated on the occasion were Geeta Rani Sharma from Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School, Nazrana Rahman Hazarika from Bengali Boys Higher Secondary School, Nibha Choudhury from Bhaskar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Manjula Deka from Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School, and Deepali Chakravarty from Geetanagar ME School.
