Intel® Teach Program has supported the Tamil Nadu Government’s Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Program to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in government schools since 2004
Intel, in association with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Government of Tamil Nadu, honored winners of the 4th Annual Technology in Education Awards on 26 September 2011. The Awards recognize the effective integration of technology in the teaching-learning process to promote 21st century skills and enhance student learning.

Three block resource teacher educators, 11 state-level and 55 district-level teachers from across Tamil Nadu were recognized and awarded for using technology significantly in teaching methods.
More than 420 entries were received from government schools across the State, with high participation from rural teachers and students. Winners were selected through joint evaluation by SSA and Intel. State-level winners won a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, while their Schools won Rs. 10,000 each along with a joint citation from Intel and SSA, Government of Tamil Nadu. District- level winners for the first and second positions were awarded Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000, respectively.

“The winners of the Technology in Education Awards are acknowledged for their innovative use of technology in education. Their creative approaches are having a transformational impact on students, teachers and block resource teacher educators by helping them gain skills that will prepare them for the future. Our association with Intel has yielded great results and we are hopeful that it will have an even larger impact in the coming years,” said Smt. “The Intel® Teach Program has helped the Tamil Nadu Government’s SSA Program integrate ICT in government schools since 2004. Through this collaboration, we have successfully managed to provide Professional Development Training for over 54,000 teachers across the State,” said Mr. Ashutosh Chadha, Director of Corporate Affairs, Intel South Asia. “Intel is committed to enhancing the lives of individuals by accelerating access to uncompromised technology for everyone, anywhere in the world. The Technology in Education Awards are one way that we help recognize progress and excellence in this endeavor through amplifying the use of technology amongst teachers across Tamil Nadu.”
