In January 2006, Intel® Corporation Chairman Craig Barrett announced plans to educate ten million teachers in developing countries on how to integrate technology effectively into their classrooms and lesson plans. This initiative could potentially reach one billion students, and is a significant expansion of the Intel® Teach Program, Intel's global teacher professional development program. Centered around our belief that
"computers aren't magic, teachers are," Intel® Teach helps teachers understand how, when and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into the learning environment, fostering their students' critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills, preparing them to thrive in the years ahead.
This program has now trained over ten million teachers in more than 70 countries since its inception in 1999.
With the signing of MoU with the Ministry of Education, several training programs are conducted in Sri Lanka as follows.
