Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. One of Intel's initiatives is to transform the lives of women and girls. Intel is helping girls and women fulfill their individual potential to inspire positive change in their families, their communities, and societies at large. Keeping in view this need Intel Education Initiative Pakistan has introduced Intel Easy Steps Course at many vocational training institutes. This particular training gives learners the opportunity to improve their social and economic self-sufficiency through digital literacy. The Intel Easy Steps materials use proven learning techniques to teach practical and relevant skills to people with little or no prior computer experience.

Intel’s – Women and Girl Initiative celebrated the success of students of Punjab Vocational Training Institute on 12th June, 2012 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Rawalpindi. The event was attended by all the participants who have completed the course at Vocational Training Institute, Rawalpindi.

The training is designed to teach participants basic computer skills that are locally relevant and useful, both personally and professionally. Intel believes innovation in the form of creative solutions, knowledge, and emerging technologies can have a significant impact in tackling the global challenges girls and women face.

Salman Bin Zahid, Regional Manager North, Punjab Vocational Training Council said, “I am very glad to know about women and girl initiative by Intel. Sara, a student of Beautician and Grooming Course from the Vocational Training Institute, Rawalpindi expressed her views, “Studies show that women face barriers with access to technologies around the world. The main reasons are lack of training or basic education, domestic obligations, high cost of equipment and lack of perception that women also need the technology. I faced lots of problems while using technology and I did not have much knowledge about using a computer. But I am very glad and thankful to Intel for giving us this opportunity. I can now use computer very well”.

In the end certificates were distributed among all the participants.
