The Event marked the global celebration of the First International Day of the Girl. A part of Intel’s "She Will" Campaign aiming to raise awareness and encouraging actions in support of girl’s education.

An Award ceremony to honor the winners of Intel Easy Steps Story Contest was held as part of Intel’s global celebration to mark the 1st International Day of the Girl. The contest was organized nationwide from January to September 2012, wherein participants were asked to describe how technology had changed their lives. Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari, Minister for Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh, Pakistan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The Intel Easy Steps program addresses the needs of adults and youth around the world who seek to learn basic digital literacy skills. The program is deployed in many countries with a simple instructional approach and comprises basic computer literacy skills. The awards ceremony was part of Intel’s global ‘She Will’ campaign – a focused program created to empower girls and women around the world by fostering equal economic and educational opportunities, with programs to encourage millions of girls and women to participate, prosper, and lead in the global economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveed Siraj, Country Manager, Intel Pakistan said, “Intel has been a leader in creating technologies that advance the way people live, work, and learn. To foster innovation and drive economic growth, it is essential to empower women and this can only be achieved through education, equal employment opportunities and imparting entrepreneurial skills. Today’s event is one such example of Intel’s long standing commitment to women empowerment in Pakistan.”

Over the years, Intel Pakistan has partnered with and facilitated many public and private sector organizations for Intel Easy Steps Course implementation. Intel has been instrumental in creating innovative new solutions to remove gender-based bias in education and technology and to build a future of opportunity for women. Intel technology-based programs in education and digital literacy are empowering women, as they learn latest technological skills and become more confident and productive.
