Introduction
Challenge: Like most school districts, Western Heights Public Schools (WHPS) had numerous IT systems to help with administration. Information was duplicated in several databases so consolidated reporting was performed manually. Then, the reporting requirements for the U.S. Department of Education's No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) dramatically increased the need for analysis and reporting across systems. Rather than hire more people to create the reports, WHPS decided to integrate its IT systems and automate the process.

Solution Intel® Solution Services integrated multiple information systems using an open standards approach. The IT staff at WHPS was trained to create scripts for the NCLB reports. By using standard software components, costs were contained so that the project pays for itself in less than three years through labor savings alone. Savings will be used to fund more remediation services for underperforming kids.
