Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-4600 Product Family
Customers have a choice of upgrading their existing infrastructure to newer traditional 2-socket servers to achieve a certain performance requirement, or upgrading to 4-socket servers to reduce the total number of servers deployed. With the new Intel® Xeon® processors E5-4600 product family, customers can consolidate up to 2.5x more VMs by choosing 4-socket server deployments over the 2-socket servers based on the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series.

Modernize and Virtualize Your Data Center for Reduced Operational Expenses
Virtualizing physical server images consolidated to a single physical server is common practice today in the IT world to help businesses achieve their goals and be flexible for future growth. Server consolidation allows for higher utilization and efficiency in the data center by reducing costs and complexity while improving flexibility.
Four-socket servers based on the new Intel® Xeon® processor E5-4600 product family using Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT) deliver up to 2.5x more virtual machine application throughput as measured by the VMmark*2 benchmark compared to the prior generation 2-socket Intel Xeon processor X5690 options – all while maintaining application quality of service (QoS) and infrastructure management requirements.
VMmark 2 benchmark result: score at number of tiles (higher is better).
