Intel® Global Challenge at UC Berkeley

Challenging youth to make a difference

Launching Entrepreneurs

Founded in 2005 as a collaborative effort between Intel and UC Berkeley, the Intel Global Challenge (IGC) at UC Berkeley is the world’s largest and most prestigious technology entrepreneurship competition.

More than 18,000 young innovators and entrepreneurs from 60 countries applied for IGC 2013. The final teams represent la crème de la crème, having won local and regional competitions to qualify for the culminating event in Silicon Valley. There, finalists present their work to experienced entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, as they vie for USD 100,000 in prizes. The winners of the competition are those judged to have the most potential to make a positive impact on society.

Among this year’s break-through technologies are high-tech catheters to reduce the incidence of urinary tract infections, personal genetic testing services, advancements in underground surveillance systems, and advancements in cloud computing.

Ready. Set. Launch.
