Intel® Xeon® Processor 5600/5500 Family with the Intel® 5520 Chipset

Formerly Tylersburg/Westmere-EP (Nehalem/Westmere-EP + Tylersburg-36D)

These processors can be used in single- or dual-socket configurations and are based on 32nm (5600 series) and 45nm (5500 series) process technology. This platform provides the performance, memory, I/O capabilities, and thermal profiles ideal for compute-intensive communications applications.

  • Intel® AES New Instructions (Intel® AES-NI): Provides faster, more efficient cryptographic performance (5600 series only).
